If a person is fortunate enough, they would be able to claim ownership of a painting by none other than Norman Rockwell. The collector would be able to enjoy the still-life qualities of everyday Americana: kids getting caught with their eager hands in the cookie jar, a youthful soap box derby race and more.
Rockwell also captured the tranquility of family and tradition, and the town of Los Gatos has not only followed suit but embraced the essence of what makes being an American and Los Gatian: the Holidays. Now that homes are aglow and the tinsel is hung, there’s no better way to take a snapshot of the season than taking part in the Los Gatos Holiday Carriage Rides in the downtown district.
On Friday, December 2nd (to coincide with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting) and starting at 5pm, those revelling in Christmas cheer will be able to ho, ho, ho to their delight by riding in an elegant carriage guided by stately equines adorned in Holiday bells. The 15-minute ride takes passengers to visit historic homes replete in the season’s finest decor in addition to parading down the festive North Santa Cruz Avenue.
Individual and group packages, in addition to romantic carriage rides for two, are available. There is also reduced pricing for the little ones.
Come one, come all and let the stately steeds show those who yearn to turn the weather outside that might be frightful into an evening so delightful.
