All one needs to do is step outside and it’s evident that the dark clouds and chilly breeze have shown summer the door and welcomed autumn’s overdue arrival. A fabulous way to escape the biting wind and rain forecasted for the coming weekend is to drive up College Avenue and partake in Testarossa Winery’s wine and chocolate pairing Saturday and Sunday, November 5th and 6th.
The tasting fee is $10 per person and each fee is refunded for every bottle of Testarossa-labeled wine purchased. (Their secondary label, Novitiate, pays homage to the Jesuits who originally grew the grapes and produced the wines in the facility now used by Testarossa. The Novitiate—once a school for training the Jesuits—now serves as a retirement community for them). Wine club members are able to imbibe the vino and savor the chocolate free of charge.
There is no need to call ahead or ask for reservations, as the staff will eagerly await any and all oenophiles to pair wines with the chocolates from 12pm to 4pm. The regular tasting room hours are from 11am to 5pm.
Since 1993, Testarossa Winery has produced chardonnays, pinot noirs and syrah that have lit up the scorecards of publications that influence the vast world of wine. If one seeks history, a cozy venue and the most luscious chardonnays, hypnotic pinot noirs and decadent syrahs anywhere, Testarossa should be the destination.
The winery promises an “event to delight the senses,” and if wine and chocolate are involved, it’s hard to imagine otherwise.
