Halloween

Yes, the big day is on Monday this year, but that doesn’t mean the local restaurateurs and tavern proprietors won’t be celebrating. The tricks and treats for the adults arrive this Saturday.

Here are the spots to start and end the zombie crawl on a night that pays tribute to the walking dead and other shriek-inducing frights:

Best Place to Start the Night
The Black Watch always puts up the old school décor, gives Los Gatians a reason to don their best/sultriest costumes and try the famous kamikazes. This is the place where most party-goers use as their launching point to their evening. Halloween or not, it’s always a festive place to scare up a round or two. There is no cover charge.

Best Place for Live Music
Number One Broadway will feature Sage at 9:30pm on Saturday, and plenty of monsters in attendance are sure to be mashing. While others enjoy the balcony seating and long bar, people who are dressed as “Fast” Eddie Felson or Minnesota Fats can recreate their favorite scenes from “The Hustler” (or “The Color of Money,” for that matter) at the billiards table. The cover charge is $10.

Best Final Destination Spots
Steamer’s Grillhouse goes all out for Halloween every year and 2011 is no exception. Featuring live music by Executive Suite, the upscale dining spot puts on a spook-tacular party starting at 9pm on Saturday. Tickets are $20 at the door and there are no advanced ticket sales. This is also a great spot for incredible people watching as the ladies seemingly do their best to wear the most “Wow”-inducing costumes year in and year out.

Just down the street is C.B. Hannegan’s, featuring a DJ and dancing on their expansive patio. Like Steamer’s, it is wise to get there early and ensure your spot. The cover charge is $5.

Best Weekend Option
The Boulevard Tavern doesn’t just throw a run-of-the-mill Halloween party; it features live music, cash prizes for Best Costume and does it all for no cover. If Saturday night is booked solid, the Boulevard Tavern gives princesses, batmen, Jack Sparrows and all other costumed charactersa head start by kicking off the fun on Friday night.
